Savannah, Georgia-based coffee company Perc Coffee<\/a> has opened its fourth retail coffee shop \u2014 the company’s third in Atlanta \u2014 while announcing plans to open two more. <\/p>\n

The 1,579-square-foot cafe in the former Full Commission space<\/a> at the Larkin on Memorial complex in Grant Park seats 28 people on a generous covered patio and 22 more indoors among the brand’s signature perky pastels.<\/p>\n

The exuberant new cafe in part reflects Perc’s packaging, which was revamped earlier this year<\/a> by the roasting company’s in-house graphic designer, Brad Praria. Perc Coffee Director of Retail Amber Foreman collaborated Praria on the layout and design of the new cafe.<\/p>\n

“We used our brand colors that have been constant in our shops, but tried to reimagine the space to be much more open and bright,” Foreman told Daily Coffee News. “The bar combined what we love about our current bars [with] new ideas to make them even better.”<\/p>\n

Fresh hot breakfast and lunch foods are prepared on site in a full kitchen. Anchoring the espresso station is a bright pink 2-group La Marzocco Linea PB AV espresso machine that competes for attention with a gleaming rainbow LED lighting bolt embedded in the front of the two-tiered bar.<\/p>\n

Foreman said the lightning bolt was inspired by the retail bar at the roastery about four hours away in Savannah, where coffees are roasted for all of Perc’s cafes, bags and wholesale clients. Facilities in Savannah also include a training and cupping lab, “where we slurp and get folks ready for battle,” Foreman said.<\/p>\n

After opening its second Atlanta cafe in 2021<\/a>, the company also opened a training center in Atlanta. Said Foreman, “[The Atlanta training center] has been vital to have a place to train new baristas, dial in coffees and host our internal manager training program.”<\/p>\n

\"Perc<\/a><\/p>\n

Perc currently runs two Loring roasters \u2014 15- and 35-kilo capacity, respectively \u2014 for production roasts following sample roasting and profile testing on Ikawa<\/a> and Roest machines<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 13-year-old company earlier this month launched its first dark roast, called Darrrk<\/a>, a single-origin heirloom variety coffee from Guji, Ethiopia, developed through the roast to achieve what the company described as a heavy body with intense sweetness and distinctly roasty notes. <\/p>\n

By the end of this year, the company also intends to open its fifth cafe, this time outside of Atlanta in the nearby city of Tucker, Georgia. The Tucker shop will be followed by another Altanta shop in the Chastain neighborhood, planned for early next year.<\/p>\n
